About Devorah

My name is Devorah and I am a writer (as yet unpublished but that’s only to the blindness publisher’s have to greatness in this strange age) and avid reader. This blog was born one dark cold winter evening when my husband insisted I stop complaining about books just to him and tell the rest of the world. And The Uncut Page was born.

The title of the blog refers to a scene from chapter 3 in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, when Nick stumbles across the owl eyed man examining Gatsby’s library:

“See!” he cried triumphantly. “It’s a bona fide piece of printed matter. It fooled me. This fella’s a regular Belasco. It’s a triumph. What thoroughness! What realism! Knew when to stop, too-didn’t cut the pages. But what do you want? What do you expect?”

If you have stumbled across this blog, I am guessing you haven’t read the book you were searching about, and therefore haven’t “cut the pages” on it. Or you have and you just want to share your feelings about it. I assure you every book I write about has been read, scoured, and all the pages are cut. Sometimes, the bindings are too (in this instance I find that rubber bands are wonderful for holding books together).

I am originally from Boston, Massachusetts, but currently live in San Jose, California. I have an English degree an emphasis in 19th century British Literature from Santa Clara University. This qualifies me for very little in the real world, in case you were wondering. But I greatly enjoy my job as a business manager at a non-profit in the Silicon Valley.

I can be contacted at devorah@theuncutpage.com.
